I read Watchmen in 1986 (on my 45-minute bus ride to school) and decided I wanted to be a comic artist. I always wanted to be an artist or writer, and this convinced me I could do both. This illustration was part of the graphic novel proposal I made to DC Comics in 1998. They only wanted superhero at the time (they were about to go bankrupt), not a complex, cosmic horror tale that spanned 10+ issues! It was a blessing and a curse.
