Derek has been tattooing professionally since 1999. Internationally published and multi Award Winning artist, specializing in Japanese inspired tattoos, skulls, realism, and horror tattoos.
Before relocating to New Orleans and opening Space Tiger Tattoos, he owned the award winning studio, Fleshworks Custom Tattoo Studio, located in Victoria, BC, Canada for 14 years. One of the most publicized tattoo studios in Canada known for the high calibre tattoos and artists working there. Awarded "Nicest Tattoo Studio" 2 years in a row by the National Tattoo Association.
He has spent much of his career traveling, tattooing and always learning at countless Tattoo Conventions and studios across Canada and the US.
Derek has had dozens of magazine feature articles and hundreds of published tattoo photos in almost every single major international tattoo magazine, (Canada, USA, UK, Germany, France, Mexico, Brazil, Turkey, Australia, Italy, ...) He has appeared on tv, and newspaper (both locally and internationally, articles and front page stories) has been featured in the book "Tattoo: From Idea to Ink" (Wolfgang Publishing), and is the author of 3 books of "Japanese Tattoo Designs" available in print and digital.
Derek has also just released his first set of stamps/brushes of "Japanese Tattoo Elements" for iPad Procreate
