Erick Holguin was born and raised in El Paso, Tx. In 2008 at the age of 19, Erick enlisted in the Army and deployed to Iraq from 2010-2011. He completed his four year contract in 2012.
Growing up, Erick drew to the best of his ability. Art was always intriguing, and getting things to look their best was the challenge. While in Iraq, soldiers saw Erick’s artwork, and suggested he start tattooing. He spent his free time deployed to learn how to tattoo. Once returned to Georgia, he picked up a part-time job at Tattoos by Pete in Richmond Hill, Ga. When his contract ended, he moved back to his hometown of El Paso, and was hired by House of Pain Tattoo. It was here that his career as a professional tattoo artist took hold, and the determination to be better set in.
Tattooing is a privilege. It should never be mistaken as an “easy job”. It is by far one of the most time consuming and demanding jobs one could have. But the opportunity to express and divulge into the something as meaningful, not only as an artist, but as a person, makes everything worthwhile. It is a constant push to do better, and a reminder that everything you do has your name attached to a standard, and quality, which helps others express themselves.
