With all classic monsters, I usually saw the creature as the hero of the story. when I was illustrating my novel "The Black Seas of Infinity', a portion of the story takes place in Washington, DC.. At that time, D.C. was the nurder capitol of the US. But right across the Potomac is the skyline of the much wealthier Crystal City. When I drew this, I pictured Frankenstein's monster, hiding behind a tree as he vies the rest of the world for the first time.
