As a teenager in the '90s, I read Frank Miller and Geof Darrow's Hard Boiled. That image of a guy's head being hollowed out by a punch stuck with me. When I had a similar scene in my debut novel, 'The Black Seas of Infinity", that scene instantly popped into my head. Using Mike and Paul as references, with Mike holding aloft my M1 Garand, I did dome research on South American guerillas and drew this illustration. Indis Ink on Bristol board, 11" by 17".
